"A Decade of Silent Love—Exposed by the Bullet Screens"
Chapter 12
Shi Guoqiang watched Shi Ning's lips curl into a happy smile, her silence only fueling his resolve. He gritted his teeth. "It's just a divorce. Just mentioning Shen Xizhou makes you so happy, then let's divorce quickly." He then added, "I'll go and tell him about Yinyin's marriage with Shen Xizhou..."
Even without the explicit warnings from the barrage, Shi Ning felt an icy dread radiating from beyond the door. Qin Heye's presence, more terrifying than any phantom, sent shivers down her spine. She imagined him, in the next second, dragging her home, locking her in the attic, and chaining her to the wall.
Panic seized her.[Read More Here]
"Which eye of yours sees me happy about mentioning divorce and Shen Xizhou?" she blurted out, her voice tinged with desperation.
Shi Guoqiang, oblivious to her inner turmoil, pointed to his own eyes, then to Butler Zhao's. "Four eyes!"
Butler Zhao, ever the eager participant, produced a small, portable mirror and held it before Shi Ning's face. "It's been many years since I saw the young lady smile so happily," he chirped.
Shi Ning gazed at her reflection. Her red lips were indeed curled upwards, her face alight with a genuine, albeit exasperated, smile. "..." she fumed silently. She was only smiling because of the outrageous spoilers from the barrage! How could she not be furious, realizing she had been manipulated by Shi Qingyin, a girl she had trusted and loved like a true sister?
But there was no time for anger. A formidable villain lurked just outside, capable of inflicting severe emotional damage and, according to the barrage, physical restraint.
Shi Ning turned to Shi Guoqiang, her voice loud and serious. "Dad, I won't divorce Qin Heye!"
Shi Guoqiang's eyes welled up again. "A Ning has grown up," he murmured, touched. "She knows that Dad is sick, and says nice things to make Dad happy." He sighed dramatically. "Then Dad should not let you fall into the grave of marriage under the banner of doing good for you..."
"Help! i think my dad want me dead ", Shi Ning screamed internally as she was sensing the aura of gloom radiating from the now utterly dejected villain outside the door. She quickly cut off Shi Guoqiang. "Dad, I really didn't mean to make you happy!" she insisted. "I told Shi Qingyin this morning that I won't divorce, and I won't threaten to commit suicide to force you to agree to a divorce!" She leaned in, lowering her voice conspiratorially, "Besides! Qin Heye treats me very well. He just have a cold face. In fact, he is very soft-hearted and treats me super well!"
Shi Guoqiang looked skeptical. "Really?"
"Yeah!" Shi Ning affirmed.
"What's so good about him?" her father pressed.
What's good about him? Shi Ning didn't have much personal experience yet, but the barrage had given her ample ammunition. Qin Heye had been secretly in love with her for ten years, loving her more than his own life, willing to die for her. She also knew that Shi Qingyin intended to twist last night's events, making it seem as though Qin Heye had forced himself on her, leading to a cascade of disastrous misunderstandings. These events, she decided, simply could not be allowed to happen.
Counting on her fingers, Shi Ning began to list Qin Heye's virtues. "First, he is very handsome, the most handsome man I have ever seen! Shen Xizhou is not even as handsome as him."
As soon as the words left her lips, Shi Ning felt the oppressive, resentful aura emanating from Qin Heye begin to dissipate. Emboldened, she continued, "Second, he is rich, the richest man in the city ! I can spend his money as I please, or squander it as I please."
"Third, he has a good figure, he is very strong, he..." Shi Ning trailed off, a blush creeping up her neck and face.[Read More Here]
She was suddenly consumed by the memory of last night, his perfectly toned, lean muscles, how easily he had lifted her... The more she thought about it, the redder her face became, almost steaming.
Shi Guoqiang, initially suspecting his daughter was praising Qin Heye against her will, became less and less confident. But then, he noticed her face was as red as a ripe apple. His gaze dropped to her neck, where, despite the layer of powder, a faint kiss mark was visible. As a man of experience, Shi Guoqiang immediately understood. Thinking of their contract marriage and Shi Ning's past resistance to Qin Heye, he exploded in a furious outburst. "Aning, did he force himself on you?" he roared. "No! He promised me that he would never touch you without your consent! Even if you are husband and wife, forcing a woman without her consent is illegal! I'm going to settle accounts with Qin Heye!"
Shi Ning watched in horror as Shi Guoqiang, in a fit of rage, roughly pulled out his IV needle, threw off his quilt, and headed for the door, murderous intent etched on his face. Even Butler Zhao couldn't stop him.
Terrified that the dreadful barrage plot would unfold, Shi Ning lunged, grabbing Shi Guoqiang's arm. "I forced him!" she blurted out.
Shi Guoqiang, mid-stride, froze. His eyes widened. Did she just say what I think she said? My daughter is so bold?
At that precise moment, a nurse's voice drifted in from the hallway. "Sir, who are you looking for? Which ward do you want to go to? I can show you the way."
Qin Heye's calm, measured voice replied, "Ward 356."
Then, the door swung open. The nurse, pushing a nursing cart, stepped inside, then turned back, her eyes wide with fangirl adoration, "Sir, this is Ward 356."
Super handsome man! she thought, gazing at Qin Heye. More handsome than a star! I need to see which patient's family member this is. Be more proactive next time, and maybe I'll have a better chance of success to acquire him !.The nurse thinks.
Qin Heye walked into the ward, silhouetted against the light. He looked at the petrified Shi Guoqiang and nodded. "Father-in-law." Then, his gaze, burning with an intense heat, landed on Shi Ning. With slightly flushed ears, he pursed his lips and uttered two simple words: "Wife."
The infatuated nurse, who had been listening at the door and planning to gossip at the nurses' station about a "man forced by his wife in marriage," also became completely petrified.
