"A Decade of Silent Love—Exposed by the Bullet Screens"

                                   Chapter 14

Shi Ning silently wished for a strong detergent, one that could scrub away her eyes which feel tainted by  the persistent "barrage" of public judgment. With a forced smile, she reassured Qin Heye, "Yes , not getting  divorce!"

Then, turning to her father, Shi Guoqiang, she raised two fingers in a theatrical oath. "Dad, I swear that Qin Heye and I will not divorce! If we do, Shi Qingyin and Shen Xizhou will suffer countless, bizarre deaths – no burial, choked by tofu, even allergic to air!"

Her father, clearly unnerved by the elaborate and somewhat gruesome vow, quickly interjected, "Okay, okay, stop swearing. Dad believes you.[Read More Here] " It was clear his concern for her marital status had waned.

Shi Ning, dropping her hand, then spoke earnestly to her father, "Dad, don't believe Shi Qingyin's words in the future." But Shi Guoqiang, ever trusting, simply replied, "Yinyin is a good child; there must be some misunderstanding. I'll ask her later." Shi Ning knew further explanation without proof would be futile, so she let it go, acknowledging Shi Qingyin's protagonist aura is at work in this matter.

After checking on her father's condition with the doctor, Shi Ning and Qin Heye left the ward. As they passed the nurse's station, the same little nurse from earlier nudged her colleague, subtly gesturing towards them.

Shi Ning rolled her eyes. Some people didn't need words to gossip; a look was more than enough.

Once they were out of earshot, the little nurse leaned in to her colleague, "The one who just walked over is the one I mentioned, the oppresser sister who rapes her  husband..."

Her whisper was cut short. Shi Ning had returned, and the nurse instantly lowered her head, feigning busyness.

Shi Ning strode up to her, her eyes fixing on the nurse's badge. "Worker number 035. Woman. I'll remember you." With that cool declaration, she turned and left, leaving the nurse pale and trembling, convinced her job was on the line. She longed to chase after Shi Ning, to beg for forgiveness, but then she saw Qin Heye. He stood there, unmoving, his gaze light but utterly unyielding. The nurse felt an icy dread. She was doomed. She dared not move.

Inside the elevator, Qin Heye turned to Shi Ning. "Unhappy?"

"Hmm?" Shi Ning looked up, confused.

"Let the hospital fire her."

Shi Ning stared. "Do you think you own the hospital? You can just fire people like that?" She imagined the nurse, a stable, state-employed worker, not easily dismissed.

Qin Heye simply uttered a resonant, "Hmm."

Shi Ning blinked in surprise.

Then Qin Heye's deep voice added, "The Qin Group is the largest shareholder of this hospital."

Shi Ning was speechless. Right. In a novel world. Logic was optional. Everything was brainless, including her, the "vicious female supporting role," and him, the "big villain with a love brain." Just turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.

Qin Heye, still looking sullen, pulled out his phone. "Pei Qianhuo..."

Shi Ning tilted her head. Was that... Pei's special assistant? The "money-loser"? The barrages really did help her remember things!

Qin Heye's expression remained blank, his voice cold as he spoke into the phone. [Read More Here] "Xinkang Hospital, Inpatient Department, employee number 035. Well, fire her..."

"Don't fire... ah!" Shi Ning lunged, desperate to grab his phone. Her movements were too abrupt, and the lingering effects of last night's "intense exercise" made her legs weak. Before she could finish her plea, she tumbled forward, pressing into Qin Heye's arms. Her hands instinctively landed on his wrists, and her head tilted, her lips brushing against his Adam's apple.

Ding.

The elevator doors opened onto the first floor, revealing a tableau of wide-eyed onlookers. A beautiful woman was pressed against a handsome man, their pose suggesting something far more intimate than a simple stumble.

"!!!"

Shi Ning's face burned crimson. She tried to right herself, mortified, but instead, she merely slipped further back into Qin Heye's embrace.

This action elicited a low groan from Qin Heye. "Hmm~"

Shi Ning's other hand, by pure coincidence, had landed squarely on that very spot – the place that required an umbrella, even on the driest day!

Shi Ning's face was now a violent shade of red. "!!!"
