"A Decade of Silent Love—Exposed by the Bullet Screens"
Chapter 24
Qin Heye vanished into the kitchen. As Shi Ning settled into a dining chair, her fingers flying across her phone screen playing a synthesis decoration dress-up game, patiently awaiting dinner.
Soon, Aunt Zhang and the other servants emerged froam the kitchen , their hushed whispers barely audible as they stole glances at Shi Ning. "Can the Master even cook? Won't he burn down the kitchen?" one fretted.
"Did Miss Shi purposely ask the Master to cook? Is she going to find a reason to fire us later?" another worried.
"Miss Shi doesn't like the Master; she just wants to make trouble for him. She loves firing us servants, always for the strangest reasons.[Read More Here]
Xiaofen was fired just for entering the door with her left foot first..."
Their whispers, though intended to be quiet, were perfectly audible to Shi Ning. She completed a synthesis task on her game, then looked up at them. "I recall Xiaofen was fired for catching insects in the garden, wasn't she?" she corrected mildly. She wouldn't be so absurd as to fire someone for merely stepping with the wrong foot. She considered herself quite kind. Just today, that little nurse had forced her to act, and she'd merely threatened the girl, not actually demanding Qin Heye fire her or even complaining.
Aunt Zhang and the servants collectively flinched, their faces pale. They mumbled, trembling, "Miss Shi is not wrong." Miss Shi had fired so many staff that, to avoid confusion, new hires were often given nicknames based on their predecessors. Aunt Zhang, for instance, wasn't truly named Zhang; it was merely the name given to several cooks before her who had been dismissed.
Shi Ning hummed, then looked up at them directly. "From now on, please call me Madam, or Mrs. Qin."
Aunt Zhang and the servants looked at Shi Ning as if struck by lightning. They exchanged bewildered glances, silently questioning if Shi Ning had lost her mind or if they were experiencing mass hallucinations. Finally, they bowed their heads, murmured their assent, and scurried away from what they clearly perceived as a volatile zone.
Shi Ning paid their reactions no mind. Her priority was to make Qin Heye trust her completely, and the change in the servants' address was a crucial first step.
"The noodles are cooked."
Shi Ning looked up at the sound of Qin Heye's voice. From the kitchen emerged Qin Heye himself, wearing an apron, pushing a dining cart with an almost absurd elegance. She couldn't help but comment, "I just want a single bowl of noodles, and you bring out a dining cart?" One would think she was dining at a five-star hotel.
Qin Heye pushed the cart to the table. "There were many ingredients in the kitchen, so I made a few different kinds of noodles. Which one do you like?" He began transferring bowls from the cart to the table. "Yangchun noodles, pork rib noodles, seafood noodles, braised noodles, hot and sour noodles, instant noodles..."
Shi Ning gazed at the steaming array of bowls before her, surprised beyond words.
She found herself speechless.
Seeing her silence, Qin Heye's body stiffened. He frowned. "You don't like any of them?"
"I like them," Shi Ning quickly replied, "but I think it's a bit exaggerated." She'd only wanted one bowl of noodles; there was no need for such an elaborate spread of various flavors.
Qin Heye's face remained cold, his tone indifferent, almost casual. "I didn't cook them especially for you. There were just too many ingredients in the kitchen, so I cooked more." He handed Shi Ning her chopsticks. "Eat quickly; they'll get clumpy after a while. Try every bowl and see what flavor you like."
Shi Ning watched his nonchalant expression, as if he genuinely had cooked this feast purely out of convenience, not as a special gesture for her.
[He is a first-time cook, and he is still itching to show his skills. The villain doesn't even blush when he lies.]
[If he wasn't afraid of starving Shi Ning, he would have wanted to cook a full banquet. What's the big deal about just seven or eight bowls of noodles?]
[The villain cooked noodles for his wife for the first time, and he was afraid that his wife would not be satisfied with him. He was so nervous, and his hands seemed to be frozen cold in his pockets, but in fact, his trouser pockets were almost torn.]
[The vicious female supporting role should stop eating and give the villain some feedback, otherwise his trouser pockets will be torn and you will have to pick eggs!]
Shi Ning, who had just taken a bite of the plain noodles, nearly choked. She looked up at Qin Heye, who stood opposite her, still maintaining his cold, abstinent demeanor. His hands were indeed in his trouser pockets, and she could almost sense a subtle movement.[Read More Here]
Was he truly so nervous that he was fidgeting with his pockets? Then she met his deep, dark eyes, staring at her with an intense, hopeful gaze, like a little puppy awaiting praise.
Alright, praising him it is.
Shi Ning put down her chopsticks and looked up at Qin Heye, her eyes sparkling with genuine admiration. "Qin Heye, you are so amazing!" she exclaimed. "You can cook such delicious plain noodles with simple ingredients! Did you study cooking and get a gold medal chef certificate?"
Qin Heye's dark eyes, already bright from her praise, intensified, sparkling like a boundless sea of stars. He looked as if he was on the verge of rushing back to the kitchen to prepare an entire banquet for Shi Ning. A rare blush crept onto his cold face, and the corners of his lips, despite his efforts to suppress them, curved upwards into an unmistakable smile. "I've never learned it before. This is my first time cooking."
Shi Ning gasped dramatically, her eyes widening with feigned awe. "Is it your first time cooking? I can't believe it! It's better than a gold medal chef!"
Qin Heye's smile remained, a joyful lilt in his voice. "It's not that exaggerated."
Shi Ning continued to eat, showering Qin Heye with compliments. "You are truly amazing! Are you so good at everything? Do you learn everything quickly? The first time you do it, it's fast, good, and awesome?"
[The supporting female lead is so good at praising! Now she has hooked the villain into a super love-brained person with a plummeting IQ!]
[Hahaha, it's too cheap to see the villain laugh! I can't even suppress the corners of my mouth.]
[Still laughing! Zhuanzhuan is here to take you in!]
[Aww, the sweeter you are now, the more you will be in dread in the future!]
Qin Heye looked at Shi Ning, with a dark intensity in his eyes. "No," he said, his voice dropping slightly.
"Ah?" Shi Ning tilted her head.
Qin Heye's voice became hoarse. "Not everything is faster, better, and more powerful at first time !"
Shi Ning was about to tell him not to be modest, but the barrage flickered into view again.
[The villain is talking about the embarrassing things last night. The wheels of the car rolled over my face, and the female supporting role was still in Macabaka, too cute.]
[That's not it. The villain was very dissatisfied with his first time last night. After all kinds of slow motion, the female supporting role was dizzy, and he himself was also weak in the legs, and then he was satisfied.]
Shi Ning's face turned a violent shade of red. "!!!" Do not look at the barrage while eating.
When she was nearly finished, Shi Ning put down her chopsticks and called out, her voice unusually solemn. "Qin Heye."
Her serious tone instantly extinguished the warm glow on Qin Heye's face. The corners of his lips, which had been curved so high, dropped immediately, and a palpable chill radiated from him. He put down his chopsticks and stood. "I'm full. I have a meeting. I'm going to the study."
[How did the sweet atmosphere become weird and a little spooky?]
[Shi Ning's expression is so serious. This expression only appears when she mentions divorce. Is she going to divorce again?]
[The female supporting role and the villain have made me forget how sweet they are these days. They are supporting roles, or the plot is forced to love.]
[The female supporting role is so cruel! She praised the villain one second! She mentioned divorce the next second. The villain will cry like a kettle again.]
