"A Decade of Silent Love—Exposed by the Bullet Screens"
Chapter 16
Shi Qingyin watched in astonishment as the sleek Maybach disappear, and a knot of confusion tightened in her stomach. "Shi Ning actually brought Qin Heye to see Uncle?" she murmured to herself. For three years, Shi Ning hadn't even visited her father alone, let alone with her husband. What had changed recently?
Meanwhile, in the hospital ward, Shi Guoqiang beamed, clutching the perfectly peeled apple Shi Ning had given him. He turned to Butler Zhao, his face alight with unbridled joy.[Read More Here]
"Old Zhao, did you hear it all?" he practically shouted, his voice brimming with excitement. "Aning called me 'Dad' again! Not just once, but over and over! I don't know how many years it's been since I heard her call me 'Dad'!" He paused, a happy sigh escaping his lips . "And Aning isn't getting divorced either! I didn't raise this daughter in vain! This illness... it wasn't for nothing!"
Butler Zhao, whose ears were starting to ache from the repetition, gently reminded him, "Master, you've been talking about this for half an hour. Besides, the young lady was born by your wife, not just by you."
Shi Guoqiang glared. "Are you tired of hearing it?"
Fearing a pay cut, Butler Zhao plastered on a quick smile. "How could it be, Master? Please, continue! Please, continue."
And so, Shi Guoqiang launched into his joyous monologue again, starting from the very first moment Shi Ning had called him "Dad."
Outside the ward, Shi Qingyin deliberately eavesdropped for a few minutes. It was the same handful of words, repeated endlessly. Yet, even just listening it from outside the door , she could tell how overwhelmingly happy Shi Guoqiang was. Unable to glean any more information, Shi Qingyin pushed the door open, entering with a sweet, well-behaved smile. "Uncle, are you feeling better now?"
Shi Guoqiang looked up, his gaze falling on Shi Qingyin, who held a fruit basket. She looked so innocent, so lovely, immediately likable. "Yinyin, you're here. Come, sit down."
Shi Qingyin settled herself on the edge of the bed. "Originally, I wanted to come with my sister to see you, Uncle. But I thought about your illness, and your poor appetite. So, I decided to go to the farm first and pick some fresh fruit. You won't blame me for being late, will you, Uncle?"
Shi Guoqiang saw the fresh fruit, some still clinging to tender leaves, clearly just picked. "You are so thoughtful, Yinyin. How could Uncle blame you?"
Shi Qingyin's concern flowed freely. "Where else do you feel uncomfortable, Uncle?[Read More Here]
What did the doctor say? Did you have a full body check?" She inquired about every detail, big and small, and Shi Guoqiang answered each question patiently. Her attentive care made him feel a pang of embarrassment about what he was about to ask. But when it came to his own daughter, he needed answers.
After a few more moments of conversation, Shi Guoqiang turned to Shi Qingyin, who was about to wash some fruit. "Yinyin, I asked you to come here because I have something important to ask you. Don't do anything else, ,just sit here ."
Shi Qingyin sat back down, obediently. "Uncle can tell me directly if he has something to say. As long as it's Uncle's business, I'll do it as soon as I get the order ."
Her unwavering loyalty made Shi Guoqiang feel even more awkward, but he pushed forward. "Did Aning really tell you that if I didn't agree to her divorce, she would commit suicide?"
Shi Qingyin froze. This was not the question she'd expected. What had Shi Ning said to him? Their father-daughter relationship had always been strained, practically non-existent for the past three years. She had been their only bridge, the messenger they both implicitly trusted. For three years, they'd believed her every word. Shi Guoqiang had seen Shi Ning as rebellious and spoiled, oblivious to his efforts. Shi Ning had viewed her father as controlling, greedy, a scumbag who'd sell his own daughter for status.
Now... now he doubted her?
Shi Guoqiang frowned, impatient at her silence. "Yinyin?"
Shi Qingyin's mind raced. With a quick thought, her face flushed, and she looked at Shi Guoqiang apologetically. "Uncle, actually, I lied to you. My sister didn't say those words. Instead, she said she would not divorce Qin Heye."
Shi Guoqiang's gentle expression vanished, his face hardening. "Then why did you lie to me?" His voice dropped, laced with a newfound accusation. "And did you ask her for 1 billion before you would agree to her divorce, intentionally destroying our father-daughter relationship?"
